Holcim Bulacan

Leading building solutions provider Holcim Philippines, Inc.’s Bulacan Plant has been accredited by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) as having a facility that can test the fitness of construction materials for government infrastructure projects.

The company’s cement plant in Norzagaray, Bulacan recently secured accreditation after passing a DPWH audit on the facility’s compliance with the department’s standards on laboratory competency, quality management system, customer reliability, and products. The accreditation is valid until November 2023.

Holcim Philippines President and CEO Horia Adrian: “Many thanks to the DPWH for accrediting the materials testing laboratory of our Bulacan plant, which is supplying a number of important infrastructure projects in Luzon. Technical support is important for such projects so this accreditation can further strengthen our customer’s confidence in the quality of our products coming from the Bulacan Plant.”

Holcim Philippines now has two facilities accredited by the DPWH for testing construction materials for government projects. The Technical Services and Product Development laboratory in the company’s Paranaque site is the first to receive DPWH accreditation in 2017. Holcim Philippines’ cement plant in Davao City has also applied for DPWH accreditation for its concrete and applications laboratory as a construction material testing facility for the government infrastructure projects.

Aside from its plants’ material testing facilities, Holcim Philippines also has mobile laboratories that can support customers on-site. These are particularly useful in road projects in the countryside, where access to testing and other technical support is difficult. These well-equipped labs are deployed to project sites to conduct material testing of concrete, aggregates, soil to help contractors optimize materials and ensure quality construction. These also serve as classroom-on-wheels for project workers who need to be trained on how the best practices or even the latest techniques in building.
