You can do much more with your SM Advantage Card (SMAC) than collect points for shopping and receive discounts and freebies.
If you have not yet chosen how to use your SMAC points, particularly those that are about to expire, why not donate them to a worthy cause or charity?
From May 15 to July 31, SMAC members can make a difference by donating points to The SM Store's Share Shoes program.
According to Chelo Monasterio, president of The SM Store, "this is the first time that SMAC points will be used for a charity effort. Our objective is to collect three million points to purchase ten thousand pairs of shoes for World Vision and SM Foundation children. Shoes are necessary because they shield our feet from sickness and injury. Still, due to poverty, many Filipinos, particularly children, lack access to excellent, well-fitting footwear."
Contributing SMAC points is simple. Simply log in to www.smac.ph, click Transfer Points, type shareshoes@smac.ph, and encode the number of points you desire to donate; authenticate your gift by entering a one-time pin, and complete the transaction. These cards are eligible: SM Advantage Card, SMAC Prestige, and BDO SMAC.
The SM Store gave 500,000 pairs of shoes to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Caritas Philippines countrywide, including last-mile villages, at the beginning of this year.
Share Shoes is one of The SM Store's corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities. Through Share Your Extras, The SM Store delivered over one hundred thousand items of clothing to areas in the Visayas and Mindanao affected by Typhoon Odette in the first quarter of 2022.
The SM Store's additional CSR initiatives include Donate A Book and Share A Toy. These projects are undertaken in collaboration with the company's customers, business partners, SM Foundation, and other social development groups with the united purpose of providing happiness to communities and giving back.
