As more Filipinos rely on e-commerce to purchase essentials, there is a greater need to protect consumers from the growing number of fraudulent operations occurring in the digital space.
In a Consumer Pulse Survey conducted by TransUnion in February 20221, more than half (53%) of the more than 1,000 Filipino individuals interviewed stated that fraudsters had targeted them within the previous three months. 42% of respondents to the same poll reported falling victim to Phishing, 38% to money and gift card frauds, and 30% to third-party sellers via online shopping stores. While organizations in all industries continue to upgrade their platforms, fraudsters look for ways to adapt to the ever-changing environment and identify new weaknesses.
